I'm a creative and versatile UX designer with experience across a number of UX disciplines. My strengths include user research, analysis, information architecture, wireframes and prototyping, usability testing, and strategy.
Sampling, interviewing and moderating to understand behaviours and motivations
Heuristic, metrics and task analysis to benchmark and surface current behaviours
Auditing, organising, categorising, labelling and mapping to define digital structures
Sketching, drawing and creating low and high fidelity designs to define how users interact with an interface
Remote, face-to-face, moderated and un-moderated iterative testing to refine products and processes
Developing frameworks to improve, measure and manage the experience across channels and devices
I'm Head of User Experience at The University of Nottingham, where I work to improve the way student information is handled and represented online across campuses in the UK, China, and Malaysia. Prior to that I was a UX Designer at G2G3 Digital (part of Capita Plc) in Sheffield, and web content manager at creative consultancy The Workshop Ltd. I've worked with a diverse client base including O2 Telefónica, The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Houses of Parliament, and Sheffield Hallam University.
A Sheffield native, I returned to study design communications in the late 1990's, graduating with distinction. I quickly built a career in digital, with roles ranging from web content developer to digital services manager. I've worked for some of the largest universities in the UK, to award winning creative digital consultancies. I completed and gained a distinction for a Masters in Design Management, where my focus was UX theory, methodology, principles and practice.
I design digital products built around human centered principles, to create visually engaging and usable online experiences.
I love technology, design in all its forms, music, contemporary art, photography, and the great outdoors.
I love camping, hiking, mountain biking and exploring new places around the UK, Europe and beyond.
My musical tastes range from electronica to dub and reggae, and I've always enjoyed live music and festivals.
I enjoy contemporary art, design and culture, and take in as many exhibitions and events as possible, wherever I am.
Always camera in hand wherever I go, I like to document the people, places, objects and spaces I encounter.
